Emily & Fin

Emily & Fin was cofounded by Emily Whittle and Fin Armour-Brown who design and develop their collection in a studio in East London. The company have been very forthcoming by sending us their full ethical and sustainability policy, key points of which we were particularly interested in are highlighted here.

Emily & Fin outsource their manufacturing to factories in India and China with who they have long standing relationships with. Emily & Fin do their due diligence when it comes to the factories they use, visiting regularly to ensure they comply with local labour laws.

When it comes to their fabric choices, they are committed to reducing the synthetic and artificial fibres and aiming to use only naturally sourced fibres - mainly cotton, wool, linen, and viscose. They have said they aim for those fabrics because “naturally sourced fibres are biodegradable and compostable, and do not contain micro-plastics which could be lost during washing.” Where a synthetic element has been used it’s for a good reason; such as some acrylic or nylon in knitwear to help hold its shape and last longer.

In their own words:

“Emily and Fin provide well made, thoughtfully designed pieces to last and be loved, without sacrificing the wellbeing of our team, or our environment. We know we’re not perfect but we are fully committed to the process of continuously learning, and working to do better.”

Emily & Fin and Revival Retro

It’s nice to be able to stock other female owned independent businesses, especially when they are committed to always trying to do better. We look forward to seeing them not only continue to commit to what they’ve outlined but also building upon this.
