What was one persons' trash is often another persons' treasure, that was designer Candice Gwinn's view of vintage clothing. Though she started out selling 2nd hand clothing Candice later went on to design her own range of vintage inspired dresses which she calls 'Trashy Diva'.
We love Trashy Diva vintage inspired dresses because of the comfortable and classic shapes but also because of the amazing prints on offer, new ones every few months, that are always in high demand and often sell out quickly in our London store.
Just look at this latest print 'Venice Nights'. It's an abstract design which from afar looks like a colourful happy choice and we have great fun accessorising this print with bold yellow shoes or reds and whites and blacks. Up close you begin to see more detail, a little man steering his gondolier steering under a Venetian Bridge past beautiful Italianate architecture. This unique print is reminiscent of the tourist prints that adorned skirts, dresses and scarves in the 1940s and 50s.
Of course there are plainer dresses too, they might be solid colours but the are no less appealing. Beautiful cuts, flattering fits and little details adding something special. Whenever I buy a Trashy Diva dress it is sure to get a lot of wear. They are comfortable, practical and suitable for everyday wear. No matter the season either, these vintage inspired dresses easily pair with cropped cardigans, colourful tights and shoes, sandals or boots!
