Classic Daywear: A Wonderful Wardrobe Staple

Classic daywear is something we're always working hard to bring you in the boutique. Our daywear is a bit of a unicorn, it's the special kind of clothing that will get you compliments at work (but not make you stand out like a sore thumb), that is also something you could easily wear in the evening for a dressier occasion.

Whether you're more into wearing smart classic daywear, or in need of a smart dress that doesn't feel too dressy, this gorgeous burgundy plaid number is worthy of your serious consideration.

We already know that this is a fabulous shape to wear because it is extremely close to our ever-popular Celebrity dress, but what really nails it for me is the lovely fabric. Every time the weather turns cold I see tartan and checks everywhere, and it can seem a little cliché now if it's not done well. This fabric is subtly warming and brings texture and interest to a classic daywear shape.

The pencil shape is fabulous, feminine and flattering, but its not too fitted. I was genuinely surprised by how wearable I've found it to be.

My colleague Samantha has barely been seen out of her dress since they arrived, so I asked her to contribute a few words to this little blog.

She says:

"I love tartan, and always have. Maybe I was Rob Roy in a past life or maybe it’s the punk in me, but I adore how it’s such a classic yet still very individual.

The cut is comfortable yet flattering to the figure, not too clingy, and I find both the skirt length and neckline cut is just the right cut for daywear.

The contrast piping is a great touch, it adds a little something extra without the dress being too fussy. I'm not normally into bows, but the bow is discreetly feminine but not girly, and the pocket details accentuates my hips in all the right ways."
