I've always been captivated by capes. I love the idea of the drama of a cape, the enchanting glamour. Yet it is also a practical item, it's even been part of uniforms and a mainstay of wardrobes throughout many eras.
So, when I came to designing a cape for Revival Retro it had to be bewitching but it also had to have practical benefit. You want this but also you can justify this, read on to find out why!
Capes are the best thing ever during the changing of the seasons or when you will be at an event that is both indoors and out doors.
You don't want a coat as you will overheat but neither is a cardigan appropriate.
If you are heading to an evening event then you want to make an entrance! Often the limited range of coats in our wardrobe don't do justice to our evening attire.
The great thing about a good cape is it can look just as good over jeans as it does over an evening dress.
Living in London one of the things I find is that travelling by public transport, the London tube especially, I'm taking layers off and on as I continually get buffeted between hot and cold air blasts. A cape is ideal as you can retreat into it or let the air in.
This cape has a wool outer shell with a soft satin acetate inner lining.
Capes definitely have something of the old Hollywood glamour about them but equally they have a vintage 1940s wartime kind of vibe too.
However you decide to wear this. Enjoy it! That was my intention!
We have made the vents up to just above the elbow so you can move your arms but also so the cape is not too restricted across the bust. This cape has been made in three sizes largely to accommodate a narrow, medium or large frame.
