The Arts & Crafts movement originated in Britain in the late 19th century with the main influence on the movement being William Morris who is well known today for his intricate floral designs.
Willows were one of Morris's favourite subjects so it seems rather fitting to have pieces inspired by his 1887 wallpaper print, which now resides in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, feature in this collection.
The inspiration for the above pieces, featuring natural Aventurine stones, was the intricate detailing on the furniture in Standen House. The house is an Arts and Crafts family home with Morris & Co. interiors and was built in 1892 - 1894. It's set in a beautiful hillside garden in West Sussex, England and is open to the public.
